Connect your site with RebelBoost
A step-by-step guide through every stage — adding your website, connecting your CDN, and going live with a fully optimized site
This guide walks you through every step of your RebelBoost journey. Wherever you are in the process, you'll find clear instructions for your specific setup, plus options to get hands-on help from the RebelBoost team.
Stage 1 — Add Your Website
You've created your account — now connect your first website to RebelBoost.
Once you've signed up, the next step is to add the website you want to optimize. This is where RebelBoost gets to know your site — it scans your domain, detects your tech setup, and automatically routes you to the right connection path.
How to Add Your Website ?
Sign in at www.rebelboost.com/signin . If this is your first visit, you'll land directly on the setup screen , click on quick start.
- Enter your website's domain name (e.g., yoursite.com) and click Continue.
- RebelBoost will run a quick scan of your site — checking your CDN provider, platform, and performance baseline. This takes just a few seconds.
- Based on what RebelBoost finds, you'll be guided to the right connection path for your setup. Continue to Stage 2 below.
Need a hand getting started? You can email the RebelBoost team and we can schedule time with an infrastructure specialist who will walk you through the entire setup at your own pace.
Stage 2 — Connect Your CDN
You've added your website — now link it to RebelBoost's optimization layer.
Connecting your CDN is what activates RebelBoost's performance improvements. RebelBoost supports four different connection paths depending on your site's current setup. Find yours below and follow the steps.
Which path is yours?
- Path A — Your site is on WordPress — Easiest path: install a plugin and verify in minutes
- Path B — Your CDN is Cloudflare (and your site is not on WordPress
- Path C — Your CDN is CloudFront, Fastly, Akamai, Nginx, or other (and your site is not on WordPress)
- Path D — You don't have a CDN (and your site is not on WordPress) — RebelBoost provides managed delivery via DNS update
Path A — Your CDN is Cloudflare
↗ Full Cloudflare Integration Reference
If RebelBoost detects Cloudflare on your site, your connection can be set up automatically — no manual changes required on your end. RebelBoost handles the entire configuration using a Cloudflare API token you provide.
- After adding your domain, RebelBoost will confirm it's detected Cloudflare and show you the Cloudflare connection screen.
- Click How to get an API token? — RebelBoost opens a Cloudflare link with all required permissions already pre-filled for you.
- In Cloudflare, click Continue to summary, then Create Token. Copy the token.
- Paste the token back into RebelBoost and click Connect. RebelBoost configures everything on your behalf.
- Once verified, you're ready to move to Stage 3.
Path B — Your CDN is CloudFront, Fastly, Akamai, Nginx, or Other
If your site uses a CDN other than Cloudflare, you'll connect RebelBoost by updating a setting in your CDN to route traffic through RebelBoost's optimization layer. The exact steps vary by provider — find yours below.
CloudFront (AWS)
↗ Full CloudFront Integration Reference
- Open the AWS Console and navigate to your CloudFront distribution.
- Go to the Origins tab and click Create origin.
- Set the Origin domain to: ingressv2.rebelboost.com
- Under Add custom header, enter — Header name: X-Forwarded-Host | Value: yourdomain.com
- Leave all other settings at their defaults. Click Save changes.
- Return to RebelBoost and click Verify connection.
Fastly
↗ Full Fastly Integration Reference
- In your Fastly account, go to Account > API tokens and generate a new token.
- Copy the token and paste it into RebelBoost when prompted.
- Click Connect. RebelBoost configures your Fastly service automatically.
- Once confirmed, return to RebelBoost to continue to Stage 3.
Nginx
↗ Full Nginx Integration Reference
- In your Nginx server configuration, locate the server block for your website.
- Add a location block that forwards requests to https://ingressv2.rebelboost.com, with a header that identifies your domain.
- Save the configuration and reload Nginx.
- Return to RebelBoost and click Verify connection.
Using Akamai or another CDN?
The setup follows the same principle — route traffic to RebelBoost's entry point and pass your domain as an identifier.
Path C — You Don't Have a CDN
If your site doesn't currently use a CDN, no problem — RebelBoost can act as your CDN. This managed delivery option puts RebelBoost's optimization layer in front of your site by updating where your domain points. Your site gains the speed benefits of a CDN without you needing to sign up for one separately.
- After adding your domain, RebelBoost will detect that no CDN is in place and offer the managed delivery option.
- Enter your origin server address — this is your website's current hosting location (your hosting provider can give you this if you're unsure).
- RebelBoost will generate DNS records for you to add to your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare DNS).
- Log in to your domain registrar and add the DNS records provided. This points your domain through RebelBoost.
- Return to RebelBoost. DNS changes typically take a few minutes — RebelBoost will confirm once everything is active.
Note: Most DNS updates take effect within a few minutes, though in some cases it can take up to a few hours depending on your registrar. Your website remains fully available to your visitors throughout this process.
Path D — Your Site is on WordPress
WordPress sites have the simplest setup path of all. RebelBoost provides a dedicated plugin that handles the connection for you — no CDN configuration, no DNS changes, no technical steps. Just install, configure in two clicks, and verify.
- After adding your domain, RebelBoost will detect WordPress and take you to the plugin setup path.
- Download the RebelBoost WordPress Plugin using the link provided in the dashboard (always grab the latest version).
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, upload the downloaded file, and click Install Now.
- Click Activate Plugin.
- In the plugin settings, set the Operating Mode — Proxy mode (recommended): RebelBoost handles delivery directly. Integration mode: works alongside your existing setup.
- Click Test Connection in the plugin to verify RebelBoost can reach your site.
- Return to the RebelBoost dashboard and click I've configured the plugin. RebelBoost verifies the connection automatically — you'll see a "Verifying connection…" screen for a few seconds.
- Once verified, you're ready to move to Stage 3.
