Welcome to our quarterly platform updates! We never slow down at RebelMouse, and without much further ado, check out the awesome platform updates that we've implemented through the first three months of 2025. In this time, we've focused on feature updates and performance enhancements:

SmartLinks 2.0
Our SmartLinks feature has been one of the more widely adopted toolsets that we've introduced over the years. SmartLinks have allowed our clients to automatically link a page to a phrase whenever that phrase is published on their site. Now we've taken it a step further with the release of SmartLinks 2.0.
- Section-Specific SmartLinks
- Previously, if you were to apply a SmartLink to the keyword/phrase "Apple," and point it toward a landing page for the company Apple, every instance of the word Apple would automatically be linked.
- Now you can specify if it's in a section such as "Technology," it links to the Apple company's landing page, but if it's in a section called "Food," there's no SmartLink applied since it wouldn't be applicable.
- Custom Link Tooltips
- This feature allows you to transform links into amazing information previews.
- Source qualification can provide quick citation or verification details.
- Product promotion allows for a more detailed glimpse into product details.
- Page previews allow for a glimpse of the landing page before a click occurs.
Image Sorting in the Media Library
Our built-in Media Library (or Digital Asset Manager) has also received a much anticipated update. Whereas prior to 2025 we had a simple search, we've now updated it with additional sorting mechanisms, including:
- Relevance
- Newest
- Oldest
Alongside our filtering, this update allows for much greater control of the image results that you find upon a search through your library.
Drag and Drop Images in Entry Editor
We've made it easier than ever to make quick decisions on which images should appear where in your content. You can now simply click and drag an image to move it from the lead media position to a particle image, from particle to particle, or even from Assembler to the post body.
AI-Powered Captions and Alt Text Generation
This one is for all those out there that enjoy efficiency gains! Every image should have a caption and an image alt text. But we all know that it's very easy to forget one here or there, and also time consuming to think of the best wording and input your choice.
Now AI can do the hard work for you. Simply insert your image, click the AI generation button, and watch your caption and alt text appear.
Soft 404 Cleanup
If you've been paying attention to RebelMouse over the past 10 years, you know we live for improving technical SEO. One major factor in improving it is to ensure that your crawl budget is optimized.
One issue is soft 404 errors, of which we've been able to identify empty RSS Feeds as being a major source. Removing those feeds has greatly enhanced the crawl budget and quality perception of a site.
Empty or thin tag pages are also a source of much angst. We've implemented an automatic way to "noindex" tag pages with four or fewer pages, and to 404 tag pages that are empty or have only one post. This helps to keep empty or irrelevant pages from being accessed.
