RebelMouse vs. Sitecore

RebelMouse is a cutting-edge CMS and creative agency that teaches media companies and brands how to build content and site experiences for today's dynamic landscape. How does RebelMouse compare to a platform like Sitecore?

Sitecore Focuses on the Funnel, Not Content

Sitecore is a customer experience platform that creates brand sites designed to move audiences through the funnel. But Sitecore built its sizable agency ecosystem by customizing Drupal solutions for brands, so clients still encounter the limitations and pitfalls that come from a traditional CMS: suboptimal site experiences that are extremely stressful and expensive to maintain and update over time. And with content so crucial to driving brand loyalty, Sitecore's suite of products are not modern enough to close the gap as brands fully embrace becoming publishers.

RebelMouse Provides Publishers With an Advantage

RebelMouse, founded by former HuffPost CTO Andrea Breanna, has the expertise, best practices, and modern technology to transform media companies and brands into confident publishers in today's dynamic landscape. Our clients become leaders in content and engagement in their respective categories because we're unique in how we guide content teams to success.

RebelMouse's platform leapfrogs traditional CMS solutions with a centralized, cloud-based model. Every feature update, infrastructure improvement, and security patch is pushed live to all of our clients at once without interruption. We constantly monitor industry giants like Google and Facebook, so our clients are always positioned to maximize organic search and social reach. We optimize for high page speed across mobile and desktop since we know Google heavily penalizes site experiences with poor page speed, as does Facebook, and potential customers are known to quickly abandon slow pages. Our tech is always iterating and automatically updating for our clients, which means investing less money in an all-encompassing solution that fuels more growth.

The Right Platform for Content Teams

RebelMouse makes it easy for cross-functional teams to build and manage publishing environments. Our authoring tools make editorial, audience development, and social teams efficient and savvy, thanks to our proprietary technology that's been engineered to optimize content across platforms. We give marketing and strategy teams digestible data to understand and better tailor content for strategies that drive meaningful traffic. Our design tools appeal to product teams because we make it simple to launch sophisticated new sites, new sections, and new campaigns that are already set up to include your full marketing stack. Plus, content and data are easily shareable across every relevant owned property. And our platform is a developer-friendly solution for engineers to deliver far better results and support to their companies without straining tech resources.

Our Formula for Growth Works

The value of RebelMouse's modern approach is clear once you look at the data. Compare the following Google PageSpeed Insights scores among brand-owned media sites. Keep in mind, we've set 60 as a benchmark score given how Google's own sites and apps perform.

Sitecore sites barely reach the benchmark. These types of scores will hurt brands trying to maximize organic reach and engagement.

We're excited that we've nailed a product that delivers such an enormous advantage for teams. The need for content, along with budgets, will only continue to grow, so it's important to choose the best tools that make it easy to maintain a successful, sustainable content strategy at a lower cost.

And RebelMouse is flexible, so we can either plug into your current Sitecore environment or power a standalone content experience.

How to Include Interactive Elements in Posts

Enhance your articles with rich and creative media

Every article is a fresh chance to grab new readers and nurture loyal followers. This is why we give creators every opportunity to build content rich with media elements that enhance every reader's experience.

Add More Layers to Your Content

You can easily add interactive elements, like charts, to posts on our platform. For example, if you need to embed iframe code into a post, this can be done via our Add Media Bar. To do so, click the code icon (< >):

A text box will appear so you can insert your code:

Embedded Code Across Platforms

One important thing to keep in mind is that Google AMP, AppleNews, and Facebook Instant Articles will not always support embedded code. So if you use an iframe, it's best to turn off distribution to those channels for that particular post. If you have a lot of posts that require embedded code, this could be problematic for growth across those important platforms.

If you do want to use an iframe on a post destined for Google AMP distribution, it can be possible if the iframe is not at the top of the page or within the first 75% of the viewport when the page is scrolled to the top (whichever is smaller). AMP is a fast technology designed for mobile users and iframes are loaded using arbitrary timing that AMP's technology cannot ensure. For this reason, it's suggested that iframes be included in places that are not visible by users upon load.

If you have an article that needs to include an iframe at the top of the page, or within the first 75% of the viewport, AMP can be turned off for that individual article within Entry Editor.

If you don't need an interactive chart to be interactive in nature, can turn it into an image and upload it directly to your post. This way it will work on all platforms, including Google AMP, Apple News, and Facebook Instant Articles. This option, when possible, is ideal to ensure you're optimized for page speed.

Take Advantage of Shortcodes

Another great way to embed media is through our shortcodes functionality. Click here to learn more about shortcodes. Shortcodes can also inserted using the Add Media Bar. Click the brackets icon ([ ]) to choose the shortcode you want to use.

Here's an example of a chart on an article page that's been inserted using a shortcode:

Shortcodes Dashboard: Dynamic Media in Just a Few Clicks

Create multidimensional content with easy-to-find shortcodes

We believe static media is dead, and that every piece of content should be multidimensional and engaging. This is why our platform enables creators so they can add dynamic media to their content in easy and efficient ways.

One simple way to add interactive content to any post is through the use of shortcodes. Shortcodes are small snippets of code that are easier to remember than longer sequences. They typically will activate a feature or embed media into an article.
