Shifting Culture Through the New Media Landscape

The media landscape has changed quite a bit since President Trump took office. While this has been tough to digest personally, it has made me realize more clearly what RebelMouse is as a company: Contagious media with a cultural impact.

We aren't just a technology company. We're a contagious media company with deep technology + an even deeper understanding of traffic.

We have a platform, and it's growing with each new site we create. We have a lot of fun picking who we work with — they are all really good people and the best at what they do. The sites we power are reflective of our commitment to integrity: EcoWatch, Axios, + Dance Magazine are some that we are super proud of right now.

But it's about more than technology. We have values that drive us and shape and lead our culture. Last year, I closed our NYC office in the SoHo neighborhood. I hate offices. Instead, we have a global distributed team of geniuses. Everyone is creative and everyone's role is bordered with blurred lines. Product helps with marketing, marketing can help with client services, etc.

This is the way RebelMouse operates, but we are just getting started. We plan to lead as an example. Together, we can shift culture (which has never been more malleable) through the media landscape. We can do it together by working together on issues like gender fluidity.

Right now, the right is winning and the left is caught behind again. We can turn that around and change the world. We can shape the landscape back to a modern message. It's a game that's winnable. No more single sources; it's time for a change.

It's a big step for civilization and is within our lifetime's reach.

Why women, minorities, and the LGBTQ+ community will restructure workplace norms

Entering a new decade means a new opportunity to change how we approach diversity. In a joint interview alongside Leanne Pittsford of Lesbians Who Tech, RebelMouse founder and CEO Andrea Breanna said that the only way to fight patriarchal dominance is to encourage and nurture more women, minorities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community in the workplace, particularly in tech.

Over half of RebelMouse's employees are women or identify as LGBTQ. Read our full diversity and inclusion report here.

How to Find Work-Life Balance as a Remote Employee

Tips from our CEO on making the most of an office-free lifestyle

Working from home is becoming increasingly popular, with an estimated 66% of companies now allowing remote work and 16% operating completely office-free. RebelMouse is one of those fully remote companies, and over the years we've mastered how to stay close to each other despite being spread across more than a dozen countries. We believe working remotely is good for both our personal lives and our productivity. Read more about this here.

Still, working free from the shackles of an office environment doesn't mean every day is a dance party in your pajamas from 9 to 5. Working from home comes with its own set of challenges just like any other job.
