A site migration or redesign starts with existing authority. A brand-new site starts with none, which is why even a technically perfect launch can sit unnoticed by Google and AI search for weeks or months.

When you launch a new website, you may realize you’re not immediately getting much visibility from Google or AI search, even if everything is set up properly with a sitemap verified in Google Search Console and fresh content. This is normal and it’s actually pretty common.

You can have a perfectly optimized website, with first-class technical SEO, but that’s just the starting point. You need to build up credibility for your new brand to earn link juice. Here are some things you can try to grow your search visibility:

  • Reach out to third parties, such as blogs, news outlets, and niche sites, with links that they may be genuinely interested in to see if they’ll link back to you.
  • Set up social media accounts and link back from all of them as much as possible.
  • Work on internal linking related content; ask your editorial team to link back to the content they’re writing and the content of their co-workers. With RebelMouse, you can also set up SmartLinks.
  • As a site owner, if you have other sites or properties that are related in terms of content, link back to the site to add credibility.
  • If you’re covering a specific person or organization, share it with them and see if they’ll share on their own accounts.
  • To get cited by AI, work on building up a presence on Reddit, YouTube, and industry roundups, have a clear “About” page, and create pages that directly answer common questions related to your vertical.
  • Build up topical authority by going for a tight topic cluster and covering it thoroughly with a pillar page plus supporting posts.
  • Add trust and credibility signals such as author bios with real credentials, and use article schema like sameAs to connect your social profiles.

The more you do these things, you’ll add to and establish credibility for your site. That will lead to more links back to you, including backlinks, mentions, and greater search visibility over time. These are all key ingredients to building up your new brand.
