Natural Golf Signs PGA Tour Player Craig Bowden; Bowden, Long-Time Proponent of the Natural Golf Teaching Method, to Play with Michelle Wie as He Takes His Game to Hawaii This Week
MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 15, 2004--Natural Golf Corporation (AMEX: NAX) today announced that it has reached an agreement with PGA Tour player Craig Bowden to become a member of Natural Golf's professional playing team.
As part of the agreement, Bowden will become one of the company's global ambassadors. He will be using a Natural Golf bag during competition and will be wearing a Natural Golf shirt and hat. Further terms of the agreement are still being finalized.
Bowden opens his fourth season on the PGA Tour today with an interesting twist. He is paired in the first two rounds of the Sony Open in Hawaii with Michelle Wie, the 14-year-old girl phenom.
"Craig has been a great supporter of Natural Golf for many years, and we are very pleased to have him become an official member of the Natural Golf family," said Andrew Wyant, president and CEO of Natural Golf. "Craig is a very talented player, and we believe he is going to be very successful in 2004 and beyond."
Bowden has been a long-time proponent of the Natural Golf method and has appeared in the company's infomercials touting the Natural Golf swing as a viable alternative to the conventional golf swing. Bowden has studied the method intensively and already incorporates most of the Natural Golf fundamentals, including a wider stance and single-plane setup. He intends to convert to the Natural Golf swing more and more as the season progresses.
Bowden is fully exempt on the PGA Tour in 2004 after finishing 18th on the 2003 Nationwide Tour money list, earning $180,238. The Top 20 players on the Nationwide Tour automatically earn berths on the PGA Tour for the following season.
Bowden accomplished his top-20 ranking despite playing just a little over four months on the Nationwide Tour. He began his season in late June and finished in strong fashion in late October, winning the Miccosukee Championship, the final tournament of the regular season, in Miami, Fla. He defeated Chris Couch by one stroke with a record-setting, 14-under-par 270 and earned $90,000 for the victory.
Bowden is known as one of the most accurate and consistent players on Tour. He ranked eighth in driving accuracy, hitting 71.9 percent of fairways during his 2003 season on the Nationwide Tour. He also made 17 cuts out of the 19 tournaments he entered in 2003.
After turning pro in 1989, Bowden has played on various professional tours. He began playing full-time on the Nationwide Tour (then the Nike Tour) in 1993, and was fully exempt on the PGA Tour during the 1997 and 2000 seasons. He also played on the PGA Tour during the 2001 season on a medical exemption.

About the Swing
The Natural Golf(R) swing method is based on the swing of Canadian Golf Hall of Fame Professional Moe Norman, who is widely regarded as the best ball striker ever. The Natural Golf swing eliminates much of the hip and body rotation of conventional swings and creates a simpler, easier to learn, more "natural" motion. The system emphasizes its four fundamentals of using a palm grip, a wider stable stance, Single-Plane(TM) setup and facing the ball at impact during the golf swing.
