APPLETON - Congressman Reid Ribble is in talks to join anational roofing association as its new leaderonce he leaves Congress at the end of this year.

"I appreciate the possibility to return to the roofing industry in 2017," Ribble said in a statementWednesdayfrom the National Roofing Contractors Association. "Roofing is in my blood, but I remain 100 percent committed toworking for the citizens of Wisconsin for the remainder of my term."

Ribble was formerly the president of his family's roofing contractor company, The Ribble Group, which was based in Kaukauna. He also served as the president of NRCA from 2005 to 2006.

He announced last month he would not seek a fourth term in Congress, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Ribble was elected to Congress in 2010, defeating Democratic incumbent Steve Kagen, after working in the private sector for his entire career. He will finish his third term next fall.

NRCA's current chief executive officer, William Good, will retire Dec. 31, but will stay on part-timethrough May 2017 to ensure a smoothtransition, the group said in a statement. Ribble is in talks to become Good's successor.

"Reid has proved he's an exceptional manager and leader," said Nelson Braddy, chairman of NRCA's Transition Committee. "He's an effective communicator. Those are both traits we are looking for. But he also understands from his time as a volunteer leader how associations work, and he certainly has knowledge of and experience in the roofing industry."
