Gastroesophageal reflux happens when the stomach contents reflux or back up in to the esophagus and/or mouth. Symptoms can consist of heartburn, vomiting, or pain with swallowing. The reflux of stomach acid can adversely affect the vocal cords or even be inhaled in to the lungs (known as aspiration).
Individuals who experience heartburn at least two to three occasions a week might have gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. The most typical symptom of GERD, heartburn, is estimated to affect ten million adults in the United states of america on a daily basis.
Lifestyle factors that contribute to GERD include:
  • alcohol use
  • obesity
  • pregnancy
  • smoking
Also, particular foods may be associated with reflux events, such as:
  • citrus fruits
  • chocolate
  • drinks with caffeine
  • fatty and fried foods
  • garlic and onions
  • mint flavorings
  • spicy foods
  • tomato-based foods, like spaghetti sauce, chili, and pizza
One of my favorite Gerd Recipes is Cantaloupe-Ginger-Juice! CANTALOUPE MELON is not only rich in vitamin A and potassium - but quite alkaline at about pH eight.five. Appreciate cantaloupe on its personal or try it juiced in your juicer!
Raise the head from the bed by four to six inches, so you are able to sleep with your head and chest elevated. You can lift the top end of the bed by sticking blocks underneath -- although your spouse may object once he or she has slid out from the bed a couple of occasions. You can also lie on unique wedge pillows developed that will help you sleep on an incline.
