Amazing reach of the #euromaidan protest in Ukraine
#euromaidan has produced more then 130K + tweets since 2 weeks - social networks massively used and contrary to other EU protest in Spain or Greece has attracted a wide range part of Society retweeting & sharing #euromaidan content.
i'm interested to understand why even officials accounts are amplifying this information, my guess is that one of the reason must be the international context with Russia, the needs from officials in the EU to constantly enlarge & welcome new countries in the never ending low intensity cold war type competition with Russia. the PRO-EU aspects & the high interest of mass media to the Ukraine case of protest is intriguing, since 2008 it's maybe the first time a massive participation from large part of EU society is looking at this protest & actually amplifying the signal. why not with citizens signals coming from Spain or Greece ? or Portugal ...what are the differences here ? does it have only to do with the pro-EU mantra picked up by most mass-media out there ? curious to hear your opinion..
