VINTNERS' FOUNDATION CHARITY VISIT TO COUNSELLING PASTORAL TRUST (CPT)

A Vintners’ Foundation supported mental health charity for stressed-out City workers.

(image)A party of eleven Vintners, both Liverymen and Freemen, spent an evening with Counselling Pastoral Trust (CPT) at their base at the Bishop’s Palace, Fulham.   CPT is one of our ‘favoured ‘ charities which receive an above average grant annually from the Vintners’ Foundation.

The evening was spent learning more about the work of CPT and meeting some of the charity's clients.  The Upper Warden and Chairman of the Vintners' Foundation Committee, Robert Rolls, would like to thank those who attended.   It was an excellent way for members to witness the difference their support can make to the lives of others.  A copy of the Upper Warden's report on the evening can be viewed HERE. Further details of the work of CPT can be found HERE.

CITY TO SURF 2015
CITY TO SURF 2015
The City to Surf charity cycle ride departed Vintners' Hall at 08:00 hrs on Sunday 28 June.  The ride was officially started by Alderman & Sheriff Dr Andrew Parmley accompanied by his wife, Wendy. (image) (image)
A total of 23 cyclists took part supported by a back-up team of 8.

The first day of the ride saw overcast skies and light showers, brightening up later into the afternoon.  A morning refreshment stop at Fairoaks Airport was followed by lunch at Preston Candover Village Hall after some 62 miles of cycling.

There was another refreshment stop in the afternoon before all riders arrived in Salisbury for the first overnight stay.

Day two brought with it more challenging terrain as the team ventured further southwest against the prevailing wind.  Lunch at Hinton St George Village Hall was a welcome sight with Exeter being the second overnight stop.

The final day was the most challenging in terms of terrain and heat as the road quickly headed upwards out of Exeter.  The route took the cyclists over the top of Dartmoor!  It was hot but the views were spectacular with hardly a cloud in the sky. The epic ride culminated almost 300 miles from the City of London on the beach at Holywell Bay just south of Newquay.  All the team enjoyed a welcome beer kindly donated by St Austell brewery before a celebration supper at Trevornick Holiday Park hosted by Rob and Jane Hartley.
To date, the ride has raised in excess of £54,000 as funds continue to trickle in.  The proceeds will be split between the Lord Mayor's Appeal and the Vintners' Foundation.  Donations may still be made HERE prior to the fund closing in due course.
A collection of pictures from the ride may be viewed by clicking HERE

FORTHCOMING LIVERY DINNER

The 'UPPER' LIVERY DINNER is on Thursday 4 June.  This is a 'Gentlemen' dinner so male Liverymen should bring a male guest and vice versa for ladies.  Normally dress would be black tie but, as the Lord Mayor will be in attendance, dress on this occasion will be WHITE TIE.  There are still places.  If you are a member of the UPPER Livery, you may register yourself and your guest HERE
CHANGES TO 'LADY' AND 'GENTLEMEN' GUEST POLICY
At a recent meeting of the Court, it was decided to change the policy on guests at Livery dinners and dispense with the former 'Lady' and 'Gentleman' distinction.  In future, members of the Livery will be able to bring a guest of whatever gender they wish to their respective dinner each year.

This will come into effect at the Senior Livery dinner on Thursday 9 July 2015.

White tie events will still be retained.  Therefore, as at present, each Livery category will continue to alternate between a white tie (with decorations) and a black tie (without decorations) dinner every other year.

If the Lord Mayor is attending a particular dinner, dress will default to white tie, even if it was scheduled to be black tie.

Each dinner event on the website's 'Event' section will clearly indicate dress as will the pour mémoire cards.
